Bawe Tropical Island

Bawe tropical island is located to the west of Zanzibar stone town, less than 30 minutes by local motor boat.

Accommodation:

Bawe is a small tropical island probably not bigger than a football pitch, with a total of 15 magnificent cottages discretely scattered along the beach line, all of them with panoramic views of the Indian ocean. The cottages are built from local traditional materials with thatched roofs, with elegantly decorated interiors furnished with dhow-type beds and mosquito netting, and featuring large private wooden verandahs looking over the ocean, en suite bathrooms, each with a double basin, al fresco showers and a bathtub.

Facilities & services:

Fresh fish and seafood is the island’s specialty and international dishes are also served, all in the sea facing restaurant by the beach or on the beach or on the deck. The island is famous for its barefoot relaxed atmosphere, with sunbathing on the unspoilt beach and fresh water swimming in the pool being some of the activities. Day excursions to the stone town or to the sister island of changuu private island (prison island) to view the giant aldabra tortoises can be organized.
