Gorilla permits’ prices for Rwanda have dropped to USD 500 for all tourists who are citizens of any African country, Rwandan nationals and foreign residents in Rwanda (offer valid until May 2021). Others go for the usual prices.
Whereas Rwanda has opened for tourism, certain restrictions are still in Place. Only Rwanda residents and international travelers with chartered flights are allowed to do Rwanda gorilla treks as of now (6th July 2020). All travelers must test negative for covid19 48 hours before the trekking date. Also, a traveler with any signs of sickness, flue, cough and high temperatures will not allowed to visit the endangered mountain gorillas to avoid the risk of spreading the deadly corona virus. Travelers using charterer flights MUST test negative 72 hrs. before the flight and will be subjected for a second test when they arrive in Rwanda.
The cost of a gorilla trekking permit in Rwanda is USD1500 for foreign non-residents, foreign residents and East African nationals. Those intending to do gorilla trekking in Rwanda have the choice to either arrange everything by themselves or work with us on one of the Rwanda gorilla trekking tour packages we offer.
On top of the gorilla permit cost, however, you have to budget for your transportation from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park as we all accommodation in a lodge or guesthouse near the park. Some visitors can make their way from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park and trek the mountain gorillas in one day but this is very stressing and won’t necessarily deliver the best gorilla trekking experience much as you can save a few dollars.
